Normally played the day before the SuperBowl , we played the golf tourney Saturday Jan.20 at the scenic Palmer Resort Course at La Cantera. The weather was a bit cloudy and misted a bit at the start of the round, but cleared up for the rest of the round and the sun payed us a little visit for several holes of the round.
The format for the Bla-blazo tournament is a blind draw for 2-man teams best ball. So every bla-blazo you are always concerned with who you get as a partner. You normally ask yourself several questions can they play? do they like to listen to music during the round? Are you gonna get a long with them. Will they take on some gambling action against other teams? These are questions that I usually have for the my partner but it worked out pretty good, my partner David Zarate and I meshed well, we both were skilled about the same, jammed out to music as we played our round, both didnt make a putt to save our lives during the round.
I was super pumped going into this round for I had never played this course before. The layout was beautiful, each played tough in its each its own way. All day Dave and I had several birdie opportunities but nothing was gimme distance, each green was playing tough. We all said maybe the greens keeper was pissed off or something cause the pin placements were tough as hell. The pins were tucked away on the smallest part of the green with a double slope in front of it protecting the pin. We came close a good amount of times but either the ball rimmed in and out or it was a miss read. I can normally read greens pretty well in my opinion, but on this day I could not read the greens at all. All in all in was a fun round we had our chances but the course just got the best of us on that day. But on a side note Dave and I did win a little $$$$$ on a side bet, and I have featured Dave on my most recent podcast. Check it out!
